Refinishing Post-64 Winchesters

Because of a change in metallurgy, Winchester model 94 receivers made after 1964 can’t be reblued with traditional Black Oxide Salts. The result is an undesirable plum purple color on the steel. GunBlack has formulated a procedure and chemistry that successfully gives these problem receivers a deep, rich black with consistent, repeatable results. Our method does not require removing the barrel from the action or pickling the steel in harsh hydrochloric acid.
